Air Rifle Competitions

Air Rifle competitions are held monthly in the UCD Rifle Range. The majority of these competitions are hosted by UCD but DURC also runs it's own open at least once a year. Because of our limited capactity, we have to hold our own competitions in other ranges. For this reason the annual DURC open is also held in UCD.

These are run under the 2013 ISSF Rules and Guidelines. Men shoot a 60 shot competition with a time limit of 75 minutes while ladies shoot a 40 shot competition in 50 minutes. Before each match, shooters are also given 15 minutes of sighting/preparation time during which the shooter is allowed to take unlimited sighter shots before any score is recorded. While there is a separate ladies and mens competition, ladies are free to enter the 60 shot competition if they would prefer to. Our annual colour competition with UCD is a 60 shot competition so squad members are encouraged to try it out.

Medals are awarded at each competition for the overall competition winners along with the winners in each class. This allows novices shooters the chance to win medals while they are classed amongst shooters with similar experience. If you are interested in entering an air rifle comepetition, please talk to an RO or get in touch with our match secretary.
